NAPIT Calls For Installers and Advisors To Get Behind Green Deal
In response to the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council’s (HHIC) comment on the Green Deal needing installer support to survive , NAPIT calls for installers and advisors to get behind the Government initiative.
According to the latest Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Green Deal statistics , 162,096 assessments were lodged up to the end of February 2014, up 12 per cent from the end of January. The 17,998 assessments carried out in February was the highest number lodged in any month to date and 18 per cent higher than the number in January. However, these statistics are still being regarded by many as disappointing after the high hopes the industry had for the scheme before its launch in January 2013.
Despite the doom and gloom most are seeing in the statistics, there are positive signs to encourage installers and advisors to get involved. According to DECC’s Wave 3 of the Green Deal Assessment Survey , 89 per cent of respondents said they would have, are in the process of, or have had measures installed under the Green Deal. This shows that there is still potential to utilise the Government scheme to boost business.
Managing Director of NAPIT Certification, David Cowburn, said: “The Government’s Green Deal has yet to deliver the promise it held before its launch last year. However, there are plenty of opportunities out there to get involved. With tens of thousands of assessments being carried every month, the demand for energy efficiency measures is certainly out there and we would encourage installers and advisors to place themselves in a position to take advantage of the business that the Green Deal is generating and get behind the scheme to ensure its success.”
NAPIT offers MCS and Green Deal certification for installers and advice organisations working in the renewables and energy efficiency industries, as well as a range of training courses.
