IET announces DPC is now available for Amendment 1 to BS 7671:2018
The IET have announced that the Draft for Public Comment (DPC) for Amendment 1 is now open from 1st October until 30th November 2019. The DPC will consist of changes to Section 722 - Electric Vehicle Charging Installations
Amendment 1 to BS 7671:2018 will enable a more practical solution for Electric Vehicle Charging Installations.
Due to be published in early 2020, the Amendment will be free to view on the IET and BSI websites, and will form part of a consolidated version of BS 7671 following the next major amendment, which is expected in 2022.
Frank Bertie, NAPIT Chief Technical Officer said: "This update is absolutely necessary to ensure EV installers have the correct guidance to hand for the installation of practical and safe charging points. This is a chance for NAPIT members and the industry to have their say."
The Draft for Public Comment is available via the BSI website and the industry is invited to view the draft and submit comments. More information can be found at: https://electrical.theiet.org/bs-7671/updates/.

IET’s Guide to Smart Homes Draft for Public Comment
In other news, The IET have also announced a manuscript Draft for Public Comment to Smart Homes for Electrical Installers.
The main purpose of the Smart Homes for Electrical Installers IET Guide is to advise electrical installers when householders need help to decide what kind of smart home technology would be most suitable/required within their home.
