NAPIT Training Tackles Skills Shortage

The construction industry has recently been hit by a skills shortage which has seen pressure mount on the industry to employ and train more people than ever before.

NAPIT Training are preparing to help tackle the issue by offering high quality training services to train and qualify tradespeople, ensuring competence and compliance across a range of trades in the building services sector.

The demand for registered, skilled labourers is ever increasing in the construction industry.

According to the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) State of Trade Survey Q4 2016 (Construction Skills Shortage Gets Worse, 2017) statistics show that 46% of construction SMEs are reporting difficulties hiring roofers, whilst shortages of electricians and plasterers are at their highest point in four years.

Although there seems to be an apparent skills shortage, FMB’s (Construction Skills Shortage Gets Worse, 2017) results have shown that the SME construction sector has experienced fifteen consecutive quarters of growth. To carry on this growth and to build an increase of skills throughout the period of a skills shortage, NAPIT has introduced new courses to ease the strain further on employing and training the UK’s domestic workforce.

Michael Collinge, Head of NAPIT Training, commented, "As the construction industry is going to need more skilled tradespeople going forward for the future, we hope that our efforts and frequent developments of training courses can help tradespeople to gain the right qualifications and requirements for a job and take advantage of the skills shortage."

NAPIT Training offers support to the industry by meeting the increasing demand to give tradespeople the appropriate skills for the job. With a wide range of training and assessment courses that are certificated or accredited by, City & Guilds, BPEC, Logic Certification and IATP, there are many options for you to upskill and boost your knowledge.

Each course has experienced trainers to guide you through the training and assessment process as well as offering candidates access to the latest tools and literature.
