Award for former NAPIT CEO John Andrews
Former NAPIT Chief Executive John Andrews has been presented with the Electrical Times Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Electrical Industry, in recognition of a lifetime’s work to raise standards and promote the importance of trade competence.
The presentation took place at the Electrical Times Awards evening at the Royal Garden Hotel in London on the 23rd of October.
Editor of the Electrical Times Magazine Rodney Jack said: As Chief Executive of NAPIT, John demonstrated his passion and commitment for technical standards through the promotion of competence to various committees and consultations.
The strength of his contribution to the sector has been multifaceted, involving a leadership role with industry bodies and in the education environment. He has been a pioneer, motivator and an agent of change, ensuring that the electrical trade has a respected position in Government and within construction.
John retired in 2013 after a career lasting more than 50 years. Over this period he worked in industry, became a lecturer in electrical and control engineering, and consulted on the review of a national qualifications framework. He was one of the founding members of NAPIT in 1992 and rose to become Chief Executive 2005.
During his time as CEO, John was a passionate and forthright figurehead for the promotion of rigorous technical standards and individual electrical competence.
